Principal’s Pen

January 32nd, 2012

Dear Parents,

It has been a while since I have written last; for that, I apologize. However, a good close to the first semester in December, and a smooth start to second semester in January, have led to good school days, and given the warm nature of our mild winter weather, it has been hard to stay indoors. Just having gotten back into the swing of things with my long distance running training, it has been amazing to get outside a few days this week in shorts and a long sleeved t-shirt.

Yet, work continues; there isn’t a day that goes by that something pops up. The part about my day that I enjoy the most is getting into the classrooms and interacting with students, asking them what they are reading or learning about and helping them take their thinking to the next level. A part I was not so thrilled about was attending the Minnesota Association for Secondary School Principal winter conference.

Yes, it was by my suggestion that I was granted permission to go this year, but I can definitely tell I’m not a big city person. Four lanes of traffic all headed in one direction with bumper to bumper driving, surrounded by large buildings is not my cup of tea. Give me the open road of southwest Minnesota where you can see traffic a long way off. But I can say I’ve been to one of the conferences, and it was an experience.

Events continue to come and go at the school. One Act Play, Parent-Teacher Conferences, I Love to Read Month, Snow Week, Our Journey of Hope Day, and many more I cannot call to mind right now in the hustle and bustle of a busy office.

Hoping you’re able to get out and enjoy the sunshine,

Sincerely,

Phil Lienemann
