Welcome to 9th Grade Language Arts!
We live in an ever-changing world, but the need for strong communication skills is greater than ever. Therefore, in this course, we will examine how effective writers utilize language as a communication tool. We will study works of literature that span a variety of genres and purposes. We will learn how to decipher meaning and analyze the various elements authors use to create their compositions. Using these examples, we will work on adopting proper writing skills in an effort to express our own unique voices in our writing. We will learn how to write correct sentences, the basics of a well-written paragraph, and how to build a five paragraph essay. We will work on understanding basic grammar and eliminating the errors that can produce confusing writing. We will also study how technology, when used properly, can enhance our communication abilities.
