Board of Education Vacancy – Lakeview Public Schools #2167
At the January 6, 2020 special board meeting, the Lakeview School Board approved a motion to begin the process to fill a Board vacancy. The replacement will serve on the Lakeview School Board for the remainder of the 2020 calendar year. The person selected to serve could also choose to run as a candidate in the General Election in November 2020.
Minnesota statute mandates that applicants meet the following requirements:
At least 21 years of age
U.S. Citizen and eligible to vote
Resident of Lakeview School District #2167 for at least 30 days
No record of criminal sexual misconduct for which registration is required
Minnesota statute also mandates that candidates have a conflict of interest if you are a board member and:
Expect to make over $8,000 as an employee of the district in any fiscal year, or
Have a personal financial interest in the sale, lease or contract with the district (there are exceptions), or
Hold another elected position, except township board
The Lakeview Board of Education will accept written applications submitted to the Superintendent’s Office at 875 Barstad Road N., Cottonwood, MN 56229 - firstname.lastname@example.org. Applications will be accepted until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 24, 2020. The School Board is expected to select a replacement at its February 10, 2020 meeting. Once selected, there is a 30-day waiting period prior to final appointment to the Lakeview School Board made on March 16, 2020.
